HRD Antwerp is a major European diamond grading laboratory based in the historic diamond trading hub of Antwerp, Belgium.
Antwerp's diamond heritage
Antwerp has been a global diamond trading centre for centuries, and HRD (Hoge Raad voor Diamant) operates from within that ecosystem, grading diamonds using the 4Cs framework similar in principle to GIA and IGI.
Grading approach
HRD issues reports covering carat, colour, clarity and cut, along with proportions and finish details, and is widely recognised across the European trade alongside GIA and IGI.
Comparing grading between labs
As with any lab comparison, grading standards can vary slightly between institutions, so buyers comparing diamonds certified by different labs should view the stones directly rather than relying on grade labels alone.
