Platinum is denser, naturally white and hypoallergenic; gold is lighter and more versatile.
Platinum
Usually 95% pure (stamp PT950 or PLAT). It doesn't wear away; it develops a soft patina. Ideal for securely holding large diamonds.
Gold
Lighter and easier to resize. 18K gold offers warm colour options platinum cannot.
