Diamond Basics
Diamond Colour Grades: D to Z Explained
White diamonds are graded from D (completely colourless) to Z (light yellow or brown).
The groups
D–F colourless, G–J near colourless, K–M faint, N–R very light, S–Z light. Differences between neighbouring grades are subtle and visible only side by side under controlled lighting.
Choosing the right grade
In platinum or white gold, G–H looks icy white and offers excellent value. In yellow or rose gold, I–J can look just as beautiful because the metal warms the stone anyway.
