Blue, pink, yellow, padparadscha and rainbow — sapphires come in every colour except red.
Top colours
Velvety cornflower or royal blue is classic. Padparadscha (pink-orange) is among the rarest. Kashmir, Burma and Sri Lanka origins carry premiums.
Heat and diffusion
Heating is common and accepted; beryllium or titanium diffusion must be disclosed and reduces value significantly.
