How to Use a Jeweller's Loupe
A 10x loupe is the single most useful tool a buyer can own.
Technique
Hold the loupe close to your eye, bring the jewellery up until it focuses (about 2.5 cm away), and brace your hands together for stability.
What to look for
Inclusions, girdle inscriptions, chips, hallmarks, prong condition and signs of glue, glass filling or coating.
